DMCA / Copyright
Last updated November 8, 2026
QuranStudio lets people submit a Qur'an recitation — a link, or a file they upload — and we render a subtitled video from it. A recitation someone submits may be a copyrighted recording that belongs to someone else: the reciter, a publisher, or a broadcaster. This page explains how we respond to a copyright claim against material processed through the service, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent processes elsewhere.
Keep in mind that we don't host or publish anything: every uploaded recitation and rendered video is deleted automatically 24 hours after the video finishes (see the Privacy Policy). We still act on every valid notice.
Filing a takedown notice
If you believe material processed through QuranStudio infringes your copyright, send us a written notice that includes all of the following. A notice missing any of these may not be actionable:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the specific material you claim is infringing, and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it — for content submitted to QuranStudio, the clearest identifier is the original link that was submitted (e.g. the YouTube or Instagram URL) and, if you have it, the QuranStudio job id shown on a download page or in a completion email.
- Your contact information: at minimum an email address, and ideally an address and phone number.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
On receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the identified video and its source recitation, and make a reasonable effort to notify the account that submitted it.
Filing a counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send us a counter-notice including all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal (the QuranStudio job id or link, if known).
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district (or, if outside the United States, any district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
On receiving a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complaining party. Unless they inform us they have filed a court action within the time the law allows, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the account of a user who is a repeat infringer.
